Second Day of Perhentian Island
Woke up at 8.30am to make sure we made it for the 10.00am snorkeling trip. The trip cost RM40 per person (equiptment included) 10.ooam-4.00pm. Good deal, I suppose. We went to a total of 6 places and a fishing village in Perhentian Besar to eat lunch .
- Perhentian - Snorkeling
Saw a couple of sharks, nice reefs and loads and loads of fishes. Truthfully, the reefs were not as beautiful as it once was (when I was 12 years old) but it is still nice.
Almost saw a turtle, however my bladder too full to put in real effort, all I could think of was a lunch break for the toilet. Many people advised me to use the sea, its harder than you think to release in public! (ok, too much information)
Back to topic, my sister brought a loaf of bread for our breakfasts on the island. Unfortunately an animal (squirrel/rat) or insect, ate through the plastic and attacked the bread, leaving a hole. The fishes benefited from our lost, it was a large loaf! And Gardenia, no less.
Mystery Point was by far the best and most colorful snorkeling spot, there were a few idiots who were standing on the rocks & corals (it was near the surface) and took photos.
As if it wasn't bad enough that the previous spots we went to all had dead corals, they decided to make sure Mystery Point would be a dead coral reef as well!
- Perhentian - Dinner
Completely exhausted and happy by the end of the snorkeling trip, we headed back to the hotel to rest, freshen up & change.
Then head out for dinner, we found out that there was this relatively new restaurant beside Panaroma Chalet, called Ooh La La (not sure of the spelling) that served great food at reasonable prices!
It was a awesome place, something out of a magazine, you would not even know it was a restaurant unless someone told you it was. I did not see a signboard, anyway. And it did not even have its own menu, just a chalk board with a few dishes written on it. Totally quaint!
The steak was RM18 per plate! So much more worth it than the RM10 ice creams! The steak was of fine dining standards, would easily cost over RM30 in KL.
And the dessert, apple pie, WAS TO DIE FOR! Mat Sallehs as waiters, we had wonderful service! No attitude from them!
It was by far the best meal in the Perhentian Island we experienced.
Could not take a good photo of the place as I did not have my tripod and it was already dark when we arrived. But it had a nice ambiance.
- Perhentian - Ooh La La Dinner
Hung out for a while, played some cards, chit chat a little & then decided to head back to the rooms to rest for an early day tomorrow. Found out the Mat Salleh waiter & chef is just over there temporarily, for 3 months.
So meaning the service & food quality might change depending on who takes over.
Hopefully not racist, horny locals.
- Perhentian - Pub
Along the beach there are some pubs set up right on the beach for you to enjoy the breeze, moon light, loud music & some fiery entertainment.
Did not stop at those places though. Too many mosquito, but it seem like fun if you wanna get high with friends on the beach.
